MIYUKI @ HOLLY HEIGHTS

IC INFORMATION;
Characters Name: Miyuki Hoshizora
Age: 14
Canon: Smile Precure!
Canon Point: Post-series.
Species: Human.
Gender: Cisfemale.
Orientation: Peter Pan-sexual Heterosexual, maybe with a bicurious leaning. Whenever she's asked if she has a crush on someone, Miyuki says that she likes a male fairytale character, and while that's not the best basis to go on, it's what we have in canon. Her extremely close relationship with the rest of the Smile Precure team, however, has her dancing with Reika in a romantic setting. It's possible she may be open to other relationships, but for the moment, I am putting her as heterosexual.

History:
Able to be seen here, all episode synopses from episode 1 to 48.

Appearance: Can be accessed here and here for her civilian form. As Cure Happy, she looks like this!
Personality:
"My name is Hoshizora Miyuki. I love happy things and believe that, with a smile, a bright future is waiting for me! That's why I look for ultra-happy things every day. But... what does 'ultra happy' mean?"
— Miyuki, Episode 44, "A Smile's Secret! Miyuki and The Real Ultra Happy!"

Miyuki is Grade A Magical Girl Leader. She's pink, she's cheerful, she's unbreakable and above all, she fights for the happiness of everyone. There are notable differences between her and the trademark Pink Magical Girl Leader, however.

At her heart, Miyuki is an ambivert. Although she has friends that she absolutely adores, Miyuki tends to think more than do (which is a common misconception simply because of how clumsy she is) and knows how to restrain herself, trademarks of being introverted. When she was a child, she was very shy, and in the beginnings of the series, we see that shyness peeking through as she hesitates to speak when she does her self-introduction. She's willing to take on the role of leader as a Precure or when it's something she's passionate about. She almost immediately comes out and asks Yayoi and Akane to become Precure with her, and is very physical, hugging and dancing with her friends. Miyuki is not merely introverted or extroverted, but exists in a plane between both.

Enthusiasm is the name to Miyuki's game. She throws starry-eyed energy into everything she does, even if she doesn't particularly like it. She's not good at sports or running, but she trains and tries her best when Nao wants them to enter a relay race at school. When something occurs, she puts all of herself into it--she puts her all into Precure, she puts her all into making Mother's Day memorable, and she puts her all into bringing her friends back to their senses. There is nothing Miyuki will half-ass. Except maybe homework. Well, no, she doesn't even half-ass that, she doesn't do it at all.

Miyuki has a strong sense of morals and justice. When Joker traps everyone in the Ball of Neglect, she immediately jumps into action.

Miyuki: "Give everyone back!"
Joker: "I can't do that. Being inside this Ball of Neglect is actually quite fun. Your worries, disappointments, and pain are all gone! There is no more need to work hard. I'm sure those girls are loving that world right now."
Candy: "That's not true!"
Miyuki: "I'll bring everyone back!"
Joker: "How will you do that?"
Miyuki: "I'm going inside that world!"

— Episode 32, "Hearts as One! The Precures' New Power!"

Miyuki might stumble over herself, but she knows when something's wrong and needs fixing. She's perceptive to others' struggles, noting how all of her friends are having trouble and rushing to help. After a bad practice with the volleyball team, she rushes to Akane's side because she thinks she's crying, ready to pick her up again. When Wolfrun causes Bad End Space to form around two girls who were playing house, Miyuki's the first one to start throwing punches.

Valuing hard work and honesty is not something usually found in your basic Pink flavor. Miyuki, however, has worked tirelessly to achieve her end goal: being happy. She works hard every day to stay happy, to find happiness, and to spread it to others. The worst thing, to her, is fake happiness. Fake smiles. Once she gets to know someone, she knows what brings out their very best, what makes them the happiest, and she tries to encourage them to chase it. All of her friends have attainable dreams, and even when it hurts her, she wants to cheer them on with a smile. (Sometimes she doesn't get to, because Miyuki's a little too earnest in her feelings. God knows she tries, though.)

"Yes, because we're her friends... we have to send her off with a smile. A smile... all smiles. ... I'm sorry. I can't take this anymore. I can't smile when my dear friend is going away!"
— Miyuki, Episode 43, "Reika's Path! I Will Go Abroad for Studies!"

Miyuki is far from perfect. She's very sentimental, she's not good with kids. She doesn't really have a "talent" outside of her huge heart and intricate fairytale and lore knowledge. She's clumsy, forgetful, and kind of airheaded. Not an episode goes by where Miyuki doesn't fall on her face or get hit in the face for some reason. Even as a Precure, she isn't the most athletic or agile; in New Stage 3, she tries to show off, but trips and falls, making herself easy bait for a monster. She may not be the strongest, she may not be the most graceful, but that's okay. Miyuki isn't going to be either of those--she's a brawler, she's a protector of happiness, of kindness. Miyuki adores the people who exemplify the traits that she's lacking, and although she notes that she's not the best at some things, she still finds pride in herself.

Cure Happy: "I love everyone. Everyone possesses that kind feeling of wanting to protect someone. That's how they became Precure. That's why even if you think all of this is pointless, to us, it's something precious."
Wolfrun: "I don't get it! You fool!"
Cure Happy: "I'm always receiving the kindness of others. Even someone as shy as me was able to take her first step. I'm sure everyone feels the same way. [...] Everyone's kindness is cheering me on, always. They give me the courage to live for each day. They make my heart all warm and fuzzy. They make me ultra happy!"
Wolfrun: "Shut up! Pointless, pointless, all pointless! I'll destroy all of that!"
Cure Happy: "I won't let you do that! I can't let you destroy everyone's kindness! I will definitely... protect it!"

— Episode 44, "A Smile's Secret! Miyuki and The Real Ultra Happy!"

Miyuki fights and claws for happiness. Apt, given Smile Precure's consistent need to knock smiles off the faces of its main cast. There is such a driving force to make everyone's lives a living Bad End, but Miyuki will not stand for it. She won't stand it from the three mooks, she won't stand for it from the Big Bad, and she certainly will not stand for it from herself. When Joker summons up a negative version of her, dubbed "Bad End Happy".

Bad End Happy: "It's all over once Master Pierrot revives. How unfortunate. How positively despairing!"
Cure Happy: "I shall not despair. I will believe in tomorrow and work for today! I'll do my very best! That's how I have lived!"
Bad End Happy: "There will be no tomorrow or the world anymore. The Bad End has been decided."
Cure Happy: "No, it has not! It's not over yet! We haven't given up yet! As long as we keep going, as long as the future remains brilliant... I am Cure Happy!"
[...]
Bad End Happy: "The world is ending, you know. Happiness won't come, no matter what you do."
Cure Happy: "That's not true! If we all work hard, we can all become ultra happy! That's what I believe! Negative me! Go away!"

— Episode 46, "The Worst Ending!? Bad End Precure!"

This is Smile Precure! and Hoshizora Miyuki will be damned before she doesn't extend her hand in friendship and kindness. She will not let anyone wallow in sadness--no one. If she has to punch that into you, she will.

Abilities:
Miyuki is, in her normal form, just an average human. She's average at running, clumsy at best and a complete klutz at worst.

As Cure Happy, however...

Precure Happy Shower: A large burst of bright pink, cleansing light. It has a long trail and will generally hit anything that she aims it at.
Precure Happy Shower Shining: A humongous burst of bright pink, cleansing light. This can only be accessed when she's tapped into her higher powers.
Precure Rainbow Healing: A group attack, only accessed while in Tiara Mode and with the other four Precures (Sunny, Peace, March, Beauty).
Precure Rainbow Burst: A group attack, only accessed while in Princess Form with the other four Precures (Sunny, Peace, March, Beauty). This calls on the power of Pegasus.
Precure Royal Rainbow Burst: A group attack, only accessed while in Princess form with the other four Precures (Sunny, Peace, March, Beauty). This calls on both the power of Pegasus and the Phoenix.

Miyuki is super-strong, has sky-high endurance, and has the power of Holy Light, compared to her teammates (who have elemental attacks). Note that Miyuki can go into Princess Form all on her own, but can only execute her single attacks (Happy Shower, Happy Shower Shining) while doing so.

Alongside this, Miyuki has the ability to turn into Ultra Cure Happy, which is the ultimate form of Cure Happy. This is, however, only caused by special circumstances within the series' movie and would likely not be triggered again.
